Feather and fan socks

Just so you can see, that I have started something else ;) It feels like ages since I've knitted a pair of socks, so now I started the july socks from "Sokkeklub 2005". The pattern is much more easy than I thought, and it's nice to have a small project for TV watching *hehe*



ooops forgot to write which yarn I'm using :) It's Hjerte Sock colour 1187. I don't know if it's discontinued? But I love that it doesn't really pool or act weird in any way... just little blobs of colour here and there ;)

Stashbuster Sophie

Here they are - pre- and postfelted Stashbuster Sophie:

Here you can see, that the yarn in all the stripes are green... the bag is 41x41 cm in this picture. I did have a feeling that it might be bigger than the first Sophie... and it was, even after felting:

Some of the stripes have turned grey, and she is now 27x33cm. Somewhat bigger than my first Sophie which is 18x25cm.
I didn't make straps, since I didn't have yarn enough for them. My plan is to find some black fabric and sew a long shoulder strap. I will also make some sort of closure for this one :)
I'm really happy whit this more autumn inspired Sophie, and I think I'll embroider some leafs or something on it... what do you think?

I'm too tired at the moment :) been watching Calendar Girls and eating homebaked cakes... and forgotten all about Sophie, that's drying. This Sophie has turned out somewhat bigger than the first two I made. I guess the doubled Hifa yarn got a bit thicker, but it didn't feel like that when I was knitting... oh and the mysterious green yarn... I don't know if it really was green, or just looked like it... maybe it has just lost colour in the wash... at least the bag now is black with some green and some grey stripes... but it looks fine anyway :)

but, as I said, pictures tomorrow! :)

Progress on Empire

This isn't going as fast as I would like, but that is my own fault... I'm too lazy to knit anything more demanding than garter or stockinette stitch *hehe* Besides, I've made jam with plums and baked for two days now :) The colour in this picture is the one that got closest to real life...

Here is a close up of the "Candlelabra cable effect" which is really easy to knit:

The colour doesn't look anything like it should, but I like the texture.

Since my brain doesn't let me knit anything too complicated at the moment, I've done a bit of stashbusting! I've had some black Hifa wool, perfect for felting, in my stash for some time now, thinking about a third Sophie... So I started knitting, and soon realised, that I wouldn't have the ca. 200 m. black yarn I'd hoped for, but more like 150 m. What to do? Find some green leftovers from "Sukkertrøjen" and a ball of green yarn I presume is wool... and make stripes! Right now I'm waiting for a washing maschine, but I hope I'll have pictures for you later this evening :) (yes, I did take a "pre-felting-photo", but you won't get it until I have the "post-felting-photo" too ;))

Empire

I've started a new project (if the others don't work out, solve the problem by ignoring it, and start something else!) - it's Empire from Rowans Classic Café. I'm using "Blød bomuld" from Grønhøj Garn, and it is the nicest cotton yarn I've ever touched! "blød" means soft, and it IS soft! The pattern calls for 10 balls of yarn, and I've knit through the first - and I'm impressed how far it reaches. The pattern is really simple and easy to memorize :)

On the needles

Right now I'm only doing small stuff... this weekend I knitted a pair of slippers (the good old granny slippers, garter stitch and a rib at the toe, then seam it and crochet an edge, and voila ;)) for having at my parents house.
I'm trying to finish the knee high socks, but they have transformed into train-knitting, and I don't go on the train often enough to finish them... but I'm almost down to just missing one foot now :)

Newest thing on the needles is a new tank in the Løve Lacy yarn. I'm knitting it on my huge metal 7mm needles, so my hands get quite sore... It looks like a quick knit, but then I should have trained some more with those staves ;)

Koolaid and a gift

Today I have a couple of pictures for you - I've been dying some yarn with koolaid from Helle and a friend gave me a gift :)

First the dying:


I really like the purple colour, it turned out really great! I'm thinking of knitting myself a shawl from it, but I don't know if I have enough... I don't know how it has happened, but Flower Basket Shawl has crawled into my mind again, trying to be knit again! I who was so sure I didn't want to knit it for years! hmmm... well, we'll see what happens :)
The green isn't as sharp green on the picture as in real life... I thought it would turn out blue, but when it came out of the water it was definitely green, and just got more and more green as it dried up... I can't think of anything I would knit in this very green apple colour, but I might try to dye it again with "frugtfarve" (food colour) as I've seen done over at fiberspace. Do you think it might work? Can one dye it twice? Of course I will use some darker green colour, not try to make it pink or anything *S*


This is the present a friend from university gave me. It's the wool from 4 angora rabbits, and he thought I might be able to do something with it. I would love to have it spun, but I'm not sure I can do that myself (actually I'm pretty sure I can't). So I'm trying to figure out who can, and in the meantime I can just have it as my "pet" 'cause it is the softest thing I've ever touched! And it makes my boyfriend sneeze ;)

Blogging from vacation

Sorry, no pictures today, since I'm blogging from my fathers computer today :)
I just wanted to tell you, that the Spring Fling top is finished... but even if I was at my own computer, I wouldn't be able to take any pictures - apart from 6 balls of yarn :( I finally finished it (hated those huge 5,5mm metal needles!) and sewed it together, and tried it on... It was HUGE!!! I don't understand it?! The gauge was right and Helle is about the same size as I am, and still I could almost swim in it!
Earlier I was hit by "the Curse of the Small Sock" and now I'm hit by "the Curse of the Huge Top". Even the wickel-pulli was a bit too wide over the shoulders and over the back... what is going on? Have I shrunk in the heat? *hehe* No chance of that!

Well, I'll go check out Garnstudios collection of patterns, and see if I find something else... and then I'll enjoy the sun :)

I think it's about time...

with a little update around here :) I'm reading for my last exam and I can't wait till it's over! But it only leaves a little time for knitting :( Anyway... a little time and a little knitting... can go a far way:

Yes, I finished my wickel-pulli! It only weighs 79g! It is a little big over the shoulders, but who cares... I think it looks a bit like something from Noa Noa in that mint green colour :) I've thought about decorating it with a few beads in the middle of some of the flowers on the front... I have some small white/very pale blue beads that colourwise would be perfect - but I don't know... what do you think?


This is half my spring fling top - I'm using Helles pattern, and I think this will be a major hit this summer!! The yarn is Løve Lacy, a cotton/acrylic blend, which feels perfect for warm summerdays...

My last project (not counting all the UFO's in the basket...) has got nothing to do with summer...

it is a scarf of all my blue/white/grey/lilac/green/... odd ends of yarn - all those little leftovers that take so much space in the stash... I simply cut off varying lenghts and tie them together to make a "magic ball" and knit when I'm tired of cutting and binding, and so on :) I might just be finished when autumn comes *hehe*

yarn running long

wow, I must say this mohair yarn from Netto runs pretty long... I bought 200 grams of it, crossing my fingers that it would be enough for the Wickel-pulli. Now I have finished the back and the two front pieces, and so far I've used 47 grams of yarn... that's only one of the 4 skeins! And even more, there was just enought yarn, so that I didn't have to wind up another skein tonight - when I cast off the second front piece, there was just about 10 cm left! purrrrrfect :)
So, left I have two sleeves and the uhmmm.... what's it called... the ones you use to tie around the waist... whatever, I guess you know what I mean? and 150 g of lovely yarn ;)

I've also swatched for Helles Spring Fling, but I have a little problem... I don't know if I should use 5mm or 5,5mm needles... the gauge should be 18 sts/10 cm and I get 17 sts on 5mm and 19 sts on 5,5... which is better? Maybe Helle could tell me, if the top is a bit on the small or the big side... would I prefer to make it smaller or bigger? *lol* I guess I'll end up with 5mm needles, 'cause often my gauge gets sloppy when relaxing too much ;)

fremgang på wickel'n

Ja, jeg har altså strikket mere end bare ryggen... men kameraet løb tør for batteri efter "rygbillederne", så forstykket og mit seneste garnindkøb kommer senere :)

Det går forholdsvis hurtigt med at strikke på wickel'n - pind 4½ er skønt! Bortset fra at jeg kun har et sæt 4½ pinde, og det er nogle store skistave af metal! Jeg skal vist en tur i byen og anskaffe et par i træ, bambus eller andet... og så noget kortere. Alt hvad jeg strikker for tiden ser ud til at være på pind 4½?? Flower Basket Shawl, wickel'n og nu også snart Helles sommertop . Garnet jeg har købt er Lacy fra Løve Garn - 50% bomuld og 50% acryl i en dejlig petroleums-turkis farve!

Mit første hjemmespundne garn

Her ser i produktet af en rigtig hyggelig og sjov dag hos Helle! Og shhhh... I må ikke sige det til Anders, men jeg vil helt klart ha' en rok så snart jeg får råd (og gerne lidt mere plads)! Hvor var det skønt og afslappende at sidde og spinde!! Og med lidt mere træning, så skulle det da gerne kunne blive til et tørklæde eller noget :) Det der ligger øverst på billedet er faktisk det første jeg spandt... det nederste, som ikke blev så pænt, er det andet... men da var jeg også træt og spændte i ryggen ;) (man må ha' en masse undskyldninger klar, ikke? ;))

men, alt i alt en rigtig skøn dag :) på trods af regnvejr og forsinkede tog *G*

two down, one to go

Så er den 2. ud af 3 eksaminer overstået - jeg fik 9!!! Herligt :)

Jeg er godt igang med wickel-pulli'en, rygstykket er færdigt, og jeg er 12cm oppe på venstre forstykke. De sidste par dage har jeg ikke fået strikket på det, for tankerne har været på eksamen selv i pauserne, så at skulle koncentrere sig om at tage masker ind og ud samtidig med at strikke hulmønster, det har jeg ikke rigtig kunnet overskue.
Til gengæld har en af mine bamser fået en ny trøje: en mørkeblå model af "den klassiske langærmede" fra Strik til ønskebørn. Omregnet til bamsestørrelse selvfølgelig :)

Nu venter jeg bare på min cykel... den skal nok snart komme, cykelhandleren har sidst sagt "sidst i denne uge, allersenest fredag" så jeg går og venter på at han ringer! Det bliver skønt med en ny cykel!

wickel-pulli og eksamen

Eksamen er skudt i gang, jeg har rundet den første side af opgaven - nu mangler der kun 9! Vi skal aflevere fredag kl 10, så der er ikke så meget stress på som tidligere eksaminer, hvor man skrev fra man fik udleveret opgaven og til kl 3 om natten, hvorefter man faldt i søvn, og forhåbentlig vågnede tidsnok til at læse igennem og rette de (mange) søvnige slåfejl, og derefter cykle i al hast til uni for at aflevere. Nu kan man jo ligefrem nå at tænke over det man skriver *G*

Men lidt afstresning skal man jo stadig have, når hovedet snurrer af viden er det rart at kunne sætte sig og strikke lidt... i går blev jeg færdig med en lille babytrøje fra "Strik til ønskebørn". Det er den samme model som jeg tidligere har strikket i lyserødt.
Men Netto-garnet (dejligt tyndt mohair) som så mange i webstrik gruppen har købt, skulle jo også gerne blive til en lille sommerbluse til mig selv, så jeg er begyndt på den søde "wickel-pulli"! Helle har strikket en tidligere, og nu måtte jeg bare have en selv! Garnet jeg strikker den i er lyst mintgrønt, og passer perfekt til min yndlings-sommerkjole... som har bare skuldre, så en lille slå-om-bluse er vist helt perfekt :)

Flower Basket Shawl

Finally! Done with the Flower Basket Shawl :) The pattern isn't that hard, I could easily memorize each row... but why does it have to be so easy to make mistakes when knitting lace?! You forget one little yo, and suddenly you have to rip 3 rows *sigh* This has been in the yarn basket, in the not-so-used-chair and in a bag for longer time than I've been knitting on it... having me staring at it, trying to make it behave. (well it didn't, I just got so mad at it, that I didn't want to let it win, so I knit, ripped and knit again. That'll teach it a lesson!)
Right now it's blocking on a towel, getting nicer and nicer :)

I have absolutely no idea. No. We have a lot! And there are more at my parents house, since I don't have room for them in the apartment... maybe I could measure how many metres I have? *lol*

That must be "Rowan Classic Café" and "Rowan Classic Garden"... and "The Rule of Four" by Ian Caldwell and Dustin Thomason. The last one I haven't had time to read yet, since my exams are coming up, but I'm really looking forward to it :)

The last book you read was
"Angels and Demons" by Dan Brown... everybody keeps talking about it, so I had to try! It was ok but a bit predictable... I still have the next waiting for me.
Oh and then I'm reading books for my exams, about Pauls letters to the Chorinthians and to the Romans...

5 (or 6) books you often read or meant a lot to you
that's really hard... there are so many! I've read most of the school library and the local library when I was a kid, and every new book meant a lot to me, since it was a whole new world to discover... I don't have as much time to read now, because of my studies, but some of my favourites must be "Winnie the Pooh" by A.A. Milne (how clever can a bear be?! and cute?! and funny?! so much wisdom in such a little book...), "Anne of Greengables" (for how many years have I dreamed of having red hair? *sigh*) "Det skal mærkes at vi lever" (conversations between Johannes Møllehave and Benny Andersen about life... beautiful. Makes me cry and laugh and treasure life.) and of course Tolkiens books... I know I have read The lord of the Rings, but I don't think I will get through them again. But I just found a little pearl of his "Roverandom" and I'm completely fascinated by his way of playing with words :) And then I'm getting more and more fascinated by the Bible... (I study theology) the more one learns about the texts and the background, the more interesting it gets. Sounds geeky, I know, I was surprised myself, how interesting it is ;)

Who are you going to pass this to and why?
Helle because she is a good friend, and it would be interesting to see what she answers ;)

Posten havde store problemer...

Stakkels postbud, som proppede pakken til mig gennem brevsprækken i dag... den kunne lige præcis komme igennem! Det var selvfølgelig de to Rowan-bøger :) Behøver jeg sige, at de er endnu mere fristende, end når man kigger på modellerne på nettet?! Nu skal jeg bare finde den rigtige opskrift til mit possum-garn...

Der er sat totalt garn-købe-stop i øjeblikket (det er nok også meget sundt for mig *G*). Jeg har garn nok for øjeblikekt, og så har jeg brugt mine penge på noget vigtigere... I synes måsk ikke der er noget som er vigtigere? ;) Jo, som studerende med cyklen som eneste transportmiddel, så er den her vigtigere (ellers kan jeg jo ikek slæbe bunker af garn hjem!): NY CYKEL! Jeg kan hente den på tirsdag eller onsdag... og gæt om jeg glæder mig! Min nuværende cykel er 11 år gammel, og godt brugt... stadig en skøn cykel, men man begynder at kunne mærke, at Århus er en hård by for cykler :) Så den fortjener at komme på pension hos mine forældre på landet, hvor den kun kommer på skønne sommerture *S*
